What is the YES! for High School Program?
The YES! for High School Program is a complete life skills workshop that focuses
on the academic, social, and personal development of youth. Social-emotional
learning is combined with service learning such that students learn to actively
take responsibility for themselves and their community. This program was
developed by the International Association for Human Values to inspire and
empower young people to live to their fullest potential.
Who can participate in YES! Program?
The YES! program is geared towards high school students aged 14-18.
What is taught in the YES! for High Schools Program?
Students learn to manage their emotions rather than have their emotions manage
them. They come to understand the working of their mind, so they can navigate
the chaotic influences of modern life. They learn a healthy alternative to
dealing with stress rather than commonly used methods such as alcohol, drugs,
violence and sex. Students learn how a few minutes of breathing in specific
patterns each day can give them:
- greater mental clarity
- improved ability to focus on their school work
- a clearer idea of their purpose in life
- improved relationships with others
